Rocket Launch
Ready, set... blast off!
The rocket is almost ready. Can you help it launch?
Rocket Launch is a simple four-touch story where a little rocket prepares for an exciting journey into the sky.
Each touch brings something new. The engines begin to glow, flames grow brighter, smoke gathers, and finally the rocket blasts off!
There's no complicated task and no need for precise touching. Just look, touch, wait, and watch the adventure unfold.

Peek Inside
From Launchpad to Liftoff

A little glow, a growing flame, and lots of anticipation. Four touches help the rocket reach its big moment.
How it works
Learners can touch anywhere on the screen.
Each touch advances the rocket's preparation and launch sequence, creating a predictable series of visual changes.
The engines brighten, the scene becomes more active, and the rocket finally lifts off.
After the completed sequence has been enjoyed, the app resets for another turn.
Precise targeting is not required.
Four ways to see the story
Rocket Launch offers four visual support levels:
- Basic Shapes: A large, simplified rocket in high-contrast colors on black.
- Clean Icon & Glow: A clearly defined cartoon rocket with a soft engine glow.
- Added Scenery: A richer background with sky colors and launch details.
- Full Journey: A nighttime launchpad with stars, moon, engine flames, smoke, and a more complete launch sequence.
Adults can choose the amount of visual information presented while keeping the same familiar four-touch story.
These visual support levels are alternatives, not developmental stages.

Make it your own
The Teacher Menu provides choices for visual presentation and available appearance and sound adjustments.
These settings allow adults to adapt the experience to different learners while keeping the learner-facing interaction simple.
Why I made it
Few things build anticipation quite like a rocket about to launch.
There's the quiet beginning, the first glow of the engines, the growing flames, and finally the big moment when the rocket lifts off.
I wanted to turn that familiar excitement into an activity where a learner could make each part happen with one simple touch.
The story provides opportunities to look, anticipate, and enjoy the changing scene without having to manage complicated controls.
And the final launch gives everyone something exciting to watch together.
What learners can explore

- Changes in light, brightness, and glow
- Watching movement and upward motion
- Simple cause-and-effect relationships
- Anticipation within a predictable sequence
- Purposeful touching without precise targeting

- Shared excitement and enjoyment
Who it's for
Build It apps were created with learners with cerebral visual impairment (CVI), visual impairments, and complex learning needs in mind, but they're meant to be enjoyed by many more children.
The simple interactions, adjustable visual presentations, and predictable little stories make them accessible and engaging for young children exploring cause and effect, early visual attention, and purposeful touch.
They're also designed to be shared. Parents, teachers, therapists, and caregivers can join in the anticipation, surprises, and enjoyment.
Different learners, different ways to participate. The fun belongs to everyone.
